What’s new in the Aspose.Cells for Java 23.1

Release Highlights

Aspose.Cells for Java 23.1 adds the ability to interrupt formula calculation per cell and enhances HTML export with support for zoom level and freeze panes. This version also introduces the PivotGlobalizationSettings API and streamlines the pivot table localization structure. Numerous bug fixes improve chart rendering, image positioning, and Excel-to-PDF conversion accuracy.

New Features

  • Interrupt Formula Calculation per Cell Enables developers to halt formula calculation for specific cells, useful in large or long-running spreadsheets.

  • HTML Export Enhancements Now supports worksheet zoom and freeze pane features when exporting and importing HTML.

Enhancements

  • Pivot Table Localization Update Introduced PivotGlobalizationSettings for managing localized pivot labels. Deprecated obsolete pivot methods in GlobalizationSettings.

  • Style Customization Added setStyle() for Row and Column classes to apply styles without altering cell-specific settings. Introduced hasCustomStyle property for Cell, Row, and Column.

  • Improved JSON Export New property JsonSaveOptions.AlwaysExportAsJsonObject ensures consistent JSON formatting for single-sheet exports.

  • Chart Improvements Added Charts.Axis.CustomUnit to define display units. Introduced Chart.PlotVisibleCellsOnly to plot only visible cells.

Bug Fixes

  • HTML and PDF Export

    • Fixed clipped/misaligned images and shapes in XLS to HTML.
    • Corrected chart legend, font, and double-quote rendering in exported PDFs.
    • Resolved HTML to Excel style mismatches and hidden image issues.

  • Chart Rendering

    • Addressed chart resizing, EMF export color loss, and resolution scaling issues.

  • Formula and Function Errors

    • Fixed DATEDIF leap year inaccuracies.
    • Prevented crashes from invalid defined names and array index exceptions.

Public API and Backward Incompatible Changes

  • Removed/Obsoleted:

    • Deprecated pivot-related methods in GlobalizationSettings in favor of PivotGlobalizationSettings.
    • Replaced Axis.CustUnit with Axis.CustomUnit.
    • Obsoleted ShapeFormat.FillFormat and Outline; use Fill and Line.

  • Added:

    • PivotGlobalizationSettings
    • Row/Column.setStyle() and hasCustomStyle
    • Charts.Axis.CustomUnit, Chart.PlotVisibleCellsOnly
    • JsonSaveOptions.AlwaysExportAsJsonObject
