What’s new in Aspose.Cells for Java 24.3

Release Highlights

Aspose.Cells for Java 24.3 brings powerful new features including HTML save termination control, default folder settings, AZW3 format support, and tick label alignment. This release also includes extensive cleanup of legacy APIs, providing a more streamlined and future-ready development experience.

New Features

  • HTML Save Process Termination:
    A responsive mechanism now allows users to terminate the HTML saving process programmatically for improved control in long-running operations.

  • Default Folder Configuration for HTML Output:
    Developers can now define default folder paths for associated HTML output files like images, enhancing organization and output management.

  • AZW3 Format Support:
    Added support for Amazon Kindle’s AZW3 file format via FileFormatType.Azw3 and LoadFormat.Azw3.

Enhancements

  • Tick Label Alignment for Charts:
    New enum TickLabelAlignmentType and property TickLabels.AlignmentType provide precise control over axis label alignment in charts.

  • ODF Strict Version Support:
    OdsSaveOptions.OdfStrictVersion replaces the older IsStrictSchema11, aligning with latest OpenDocument standards.

  • HTML Export Improvements:
    The new HtmlSaveOptions.MergeEmptyTdType enum allows merging of empty cells (TD elements) for cleaner HTML table structure.

Bug Fixes

  • Text and Layout Rendering Fixes:

    • Corrected upward text shifting when exporting Excel to PDF.
    • Resolved formatting issues with multiple conditional formats.
    • Fixed chart rendering errors in both PDF and PNG output.
  • Page Layout and Cell Formatting:

    • Fixed layout inconsistencies from Worksheet.autoFitRows(true).
    • Improved font sizing and cell alignment during HTML export.
  • Pivot and Formula Stability:

    • Preserved formulas adjacent to pivot page fields.
    • Fixed chart export error for unsupported TIFF format.
    • Resolved GridWeb formula issues and calculation result errors.

Public API and Backwards Incompatible Changes

New Enums and Properties:

  • FileFormatType.Azw3, LoadFormat.Azw3: Support for AZW3 files.
  • TickLabelAlignmentType, TickLabels.AlignmentType: Axis label alignment.
  • OdsSaveOptions.OdfStrictVersion: Strict ODF compliance control.
  • PivotItem.IsMissing: Detect missing pivot table items.
  • HtmlSaveOptions.MergeEmptyTdType: Controls how empty TD cells are handled.

Removed Obsolete Members:

  • Numerous outdated methods and properties including:
    • Cells.get(int index), getCell(row, col)
    • WorkbookSettings.ParsingFormulaOnOpen and formula-related settings
    • ICustomFunction (replaced with AbstractCalculationEngine)
    • Deprecated methods for accessing rows, columns, area settings, and chart axis properties
