Release Highlights

Aspose.Words for Java 24.7 delivers 110 powerful updates including major advancements in document accessibility, ActiveX control manipulation, export options, and chart customization. This release significantly strengthens control over form fields, data export formats, and visual precision in charts and lists, giving developers the tools to create dynamic and accessible Word-based applications.

New Features

  • PDF/UA-2 Export Support: Export to PDF/UA-2 format for improved accessibility compliance with ISO 14289-2:2024. Supports both standalone PDF/UA-2 and hybrid PDF/A-4 + PDF/UA-2.

  • XLSX Export with Auto DateTime Parsing: Automatically determine date and time formats using XlsxSaveOptions.DateTimeParsingMode to improve data export consistency.

  • Granular Markdown Export Options: Added MarkdownSaveOptions.LinkExportMode for precise control over how links are exported—either inline or as references.

  • Full ActiveX Control Manipulation:

    • Set or read properties like BackColor, ForeColor, Height, and Width.
    • Toggle checkbox state using the new CheckBoxControl.Checked property.
    • Select or deselect radio buttons via OptionButtonControl.Selected.

  • Custom Chart Label Orientation and Rotation: Control label rotation (±180 degrees) and text orientation in charts using the ChartDataLabel.Orientation and Rotation properties.

  • VBA Project Protection Check: Detect whether a VBA project is password-protected using VbaProject.IsProtected.

  • Custom Number Style Formats for List Levels: Set personalized numbering styles for lists using the new setter in ListLevel.CustomNumberStyleFormat.

  • Improved export fidelity for modern PDF formats by aligning PdfCompliance.Pdf20 and PdfA4 with PDF 2 logical structure.
  • Enhanced interactivity and layout control for documents containing complex form and chart elements.

  • Numerous bug fixes across export, rendering, and object handling enhance stability and performance for enterprise-grade solutions.

Public API and Backward Incompatible Changes

  • New Properties:
    • XlsxSaveOptions.DateTimeParsingMode enum introduced with Auto and UseCurrentLocale options.
    • MarkdownSaveOptions.LinkExportMode for inline or reference link control.
    • Forms2OleControl now supports property setters for visual and layout customization.
    • CheckBoxControl.Checked and OptionButtonControl.Selected for state management.
    • ChartDataLabel.Orientation and Rotation for label styling.
